So moving along to other matters of diminishing importance... As we approach Independence Day on the 4th, the kooks who can't wait are blowing off their illegal fireworks every night... Today some guy on the news had blown his fingers off - what other nation has a holiday where you can blow your fingers off?? Yes, Ladies an' Gentlemen, that is what makes 'Merica Great!

But getting down to the nitty an' the gritty, What, you might ask, is all this celebrating really about? Well, the ratification of the "Declaration of Independence," of course... (Which was actually ratified on the 2nd) So naturally we celebrate it on the 4th... any questions?

In it, Thomas Jefferson penned those immortal words: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

By "All Men," as it turns out, our founding fathers meant specifically the Landed Gentry of European decent... While Natives, Blacks, or anyone without two shillings to rub together need not apply... and Women – don't even ask!

But then, it was a different time with different standards... Should we judge these people in the perspective of our own less than enlightened age? What the hey, why not?? After all, it wasn't until the mid– '60s that LBJ pushed "Civil Rights" through Congress - and seems that a lot of people have been really peeved about that ever since... Perhaps it's time that we all grew up as a nation and started taking that phrase, "That all men (and women) are created equal," Seriously!! Think about that on the 4th this year!!... JQ
