November 2010Well, here we are at another November - While last month (for those of you keeping score) I set a new record for late Calendars -- In comparison, This month I'm practically dead on time... Yup! Perhaps I should also mention, that this month's calendar was originally planned for October - but due to factors of a dubious veracity, it was postponed -- there's most likely a very good reason for this -- Just none occur to me at the moment... But be that as it may - due to the somewhat security-laden nature of this month's calendar pix, no one should look at it before being sworn to secrecy... so all of you, hold up your right hand and your left foot - now repeat after me: "I" (state your Name) "do solemnly swear", (Now say a few cuss words)... Then take your computer monitor and bury in your back yard... Okay, everyone sworn in? - (Those of you in Canada have to swear it in both English and French). Hokay, so you can all take a look now... Just as a note, for those of you puzzled as to what this is all about - Do any of you recall a few months back, (along about July or August) That news leaked out, of back during the dark days off WWII - when then Prime Minister Winston Churchill banned all reports of UFO sightings by the RAF, on grounds of wartime security? You all recall that, right?? (Because, if you don't, then none of the rest of this is going to make any sense at all)... Well - Through our sources, which must remain anonymous, *Ahem* we have secured one of those previously banned wartime photos - and even though the British Official Secrets Act, doesn't actually apply to US citizens (especially us Cartoonists), There are still certain negative aspects to crossing the British Agencies - Such As: they can come 'round to your place an' stomp on your cat... Fortunately, I don't have a cat... To bad about the neighbor's kitty, though... Yes - Here we present for your edification and thumbing our noses at... um... no, let me rephrase that... For um, Educational purposes only... (Honest! Lay off the neighbor's moggy, okay?) An actual wartime photo, taken on actual wartime film, by an actual Lancaster crewman, somewhere over occupied Europe... It's like Official an' all that - Hey, would we kid you?? Note - Additional: "Foo Fighter" was WWII slang for strange balls of light that would sometimes follow or even buzz the Bomber streams... No adequate explanation has ever been put forward as to what these were -- a German secret weapon? Strange Atmospheric effects? Or perhaps just hallucinations of drunken Bomber Crewmen..? Now, with the revelation of this long-suppressed photo, perhaps some new light is shed upon the wartime mystery... So who says that Comix aren't Educational?? JQ |
