Well, here we are at the beginning of a whole new year - with new hopes - new expectations and soon to have a new President and all that... Let's hope Obama does a better job than the last one... Would be exceedingly difficult for him to do worse!!

And for those of you who fear that things may not get better, I offer this small tidbit of hope... Last year was a "Leap Year" with an extra day -- while this year (2009) has a "Leap Second" Meaning that in January, for exactly the same rent, we get a whole extra second of luxurious living... (Or if like many of the newly unemployed, you happen to be living in a cardboard box, an extra second of not so luxurious living) but still you gotta admit, its better than nothing...

But that aside, about this month's calendar - as best I recall, the pix is loosely based upon a Kurt Schaffenberger illustration of Mary Marvel... I drew my Bunny version back in 85 - Click here to see - She's more or less wearing Mary's old outfit, with - um - certain modifications... If Cap & Mary used the magic word to fight crime, seems perhaps Cutey uses the magic to hold her lighting cutout blouse together... I don't recall if the pix was ever printed anywhere - and at one point I'd written a sort of a spoof of a Captain Marvel type story with Kelly & Taffy, that also never was finished or printed... Uh huh - seems a pattern there...

A couple of months ago, I came a cross the scan of the 85 pix and for no particular reason I cleaned up the inks... A bit later I thought maybe to use the pix for a calendar, so filled in the colors and created the sky, clouds and lightning mostly with PhotoShop filters (I really Love that Program!)... And so now, here you have it - Cutey Wishing everyone a REALY MARVY NEW YEAR... Yup... JQ
