September 2009Continuing on with our Science and Space theme from last month... Most of you may recall that last May, the crew of Shuttle Atlantis did the 4th (and possibly last) repair and update mission to the Hubble - our orbital space telescope - which among all the various satellite and deep space missions, has probably done more to popularize the wonders of the Universe, in all its magnificent beauty and strangeness... Since the Hubble's update, the techs have been working to calibrate and bring the new and upgraded systems back on line... Gradually, each system is checked and rechecked, making certain that each module has been installed correctly... This month's Calendar is from one of the test shots with their main camera... indications are that there may be some small calibration problems... But I'm sure that its nothing that they can't work out... Uh Huh... JQ |
