But that aside - due to incomprehensible circumstances, I seem to have gotten the calendar done on time this month... (Those of you who check in a couple of days late - think of what you missed) And July brings us up to that patriotic day, the 4th, when we watch fireworks and eat barbecue an’ tend to forget that the whole “Rockets red glare” thing is based upon a war that we lost (The one back in 1812 when the Brits burned Washington and all that unpleasantness)... And speaking of lost wars, I realize it’s futile to mention, but wouldn’t it be nice if we did the patriotic thing and brought the troops home? Sure, I know that it’s not going to happen until after the next election, but think of all who will die between now and then and for what? What exact purpose will it all serve? Perhaps make a few more Billons for war profiteers? By last Official Guesstimate, the war is costing TWO BILLIONS a WEEK! Multiply that by just one year, and it adds up to quite a chunk of change - Of which a large percentage will be pounded down the rat-hole of Iraqi government corruption, or poured into the pockets of Halliburton et al!! Personally, I can’t see any other point it it - it’s a war whose rationale was all lies to start with - and has done no one any good - except of course the profiteers... so that’s my patriotic thought for the 4th...
