Sox Bunny

November 1st 2005

Shades of Shoeless Joe Jackson, the Chi-Sox not only made it to the World Series, but swept it..! Who would have thought that in back to back series, the Red Sox who hadn't won since 1918 and the White Sox who hadn't won since 1917 (Threw the 1919 series and Lost in 59 to the Dodgers) would both sweep the series in four games straight..?? I imagine that you could'a got great odds on that -- Too bad that I didn't think to bet...

And anyway, I realize that was all last month - and don't mean to gloat - but when ever will I get another chance to do this Calendar..?? Actually, to tell the truth, I started this calendar, what was it, two or three years back when it looked like the Cubs might make it -- but then they did that thing that only the Cubs can do so well -- Snatch Defeat from the Jaws of Victory... And so I shelved the calendar - presumably for all time... But then this year, the Sox really caught me off guard, So during the series I dug out the old files and got to work on them again... Now for those of you who are paying close attention, you may note that this ball park is not "Cellular Field" (What a Cruddy name!) and no, it's not Wrigley Field either... It is the original Comiskey Park (Though modified just a tad) that was torn down a few years back... The park that Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Ty Cobb, big Bill Melton and my favorite pitcher, knuckle-balling Wilbur Wood all played in... To tell the truth, I really preferred to use the old Comiskey Park, though I did search diligently for a usable pix of the new park, but couldn't come up with anything that would fit the layout...

Shoeless Joe, where ever you are - I don't know if this series meant anything to you or not - but I hope you rest easy... JQ.

By the way - for anyone who might be curious how the Bunnies would have looked in Wrigley Field, then click here for the original Cubs Calendar Layout...
