In these mundane days, its once-awesome female symbolism has been reduced to the frivolous image of the Easter Egg, while the ecstatic and exhausting festival that once followed this solemn rite -- designed to ensure the fertility of the land, and um... some of the participants, often lasted for several days and nights -- and then several more nights...
